Once the boat had drinks and people on it, it started to sprinkle...no worries, it will pass. Then it starts to rain as we pull off the boat lift. Once we round the channel's corner and get into the river we see a wall of water heading our way led by 4 or 5 boats hauling butt into shore. Now, it is pouring. All 5 of us are shoved under the Bimini top (which, by the way is not that effective in sideways rain). By now, everyone is telling me this is all my fault, that they all "knew" the storm was getting worse and they only came because I wouldn't shut up about going on the boat. I was insisting it was in fact not my fault because no one said they didn't want to go on the boat and they all got up and got dressed when I said we should get going. Is it my fault people can't voice their opinions? I think not!
So I told them we should turn around since nobody wanted to go out in the first place. We quickly learned turning around was even worse! Now we were going into the wind and the rain is pelting us. It is raining so hard nobody could see. There is a solid inch of water forming a small river on the floor of the pontoon boat and we are all soaked from head to toe, shivering. (Just to paint a better picture -- I was laughing very hard. This was by far my BEST idea EVER! Although Marian and Me were the only ones who seemed to enjoy the situation)
It took us about 5 minutes to dock the boat at the house because of the huge wind gusts. Cy was holding a rope at the front of the dock while the back end of the boat refused to get within 5 feet of the dock leaving it sticking out in the middle of the channel. (Don't worry though...nobody was going out like we did!)
After we finally docked, Callie, Cy and Marian went upstairs to shower and change. Joe and I stayed downstairs. Before they could even get out of the showers, the sun was out. Joe and I opened up a beer and layed on the boat. After a few minutes everyone in the house realized the sun was out and came down. We fished off the seawall and laid around outside for about an hour until they realized the storm was officially over and we got back on the boat and went down to the swimming hole.
Moral of the story: I am always right. By the time we would have gotten down to the swimming hole the storm would have been over and we would have had a primo spot. Too bad I was hanging out with a bunch of weenies.
On a side note - On the way down to the swimming hole, we stopped at the Riverside Bar and got Daiquiris. There were probably about 12 locals there and when I handed the bartender my id, every person in there turned and looked at me as if they wanted to see my reaction when my fake got declined. A few look how young this girl is jokes flew out about the same time. The bartender looked at my id, handed it back, then grabbed it back from me to look at it closer a second time. Then she said "Damn." Not sure why? I think they all wanted to bust me for being under....sorry dudes, no luck this time. The other four people after me didn't even get id-ed, I guess she figured if I was 21 and I looked 12 everyone else was too.
Today I went to Zaxby's for the first time. The food wasn't amazing but I will for sure be going back because their sodas came with blue straws. Awesome. It pretty much made my day.
Love,
KK
